Barclays makes a strategic move with the appointment of Hiroshi Minoura as its Chairman of Investment Banking, Japan. This strategic move strengthens their presence in one of the world’s most important financial markets. He will lead Barclays’ investment banking efforts in Japan’s dynamic market environment.
With nearly five decades of experience in financial services, MINOURA has held senior leadership and advisory roles at Bank of America Securities Japan, which focused on business development and client coverage, and spent 37 years with SMBC Group Banking Corporation in key positions, including Vice Chairman and Deputy President.
Hiroshi Minoura brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. He has served as a Senior Advisor to Barclays’ investment banking business in Japan, providing strategic guidance and helping shape client engagement and transaction activity.
However, as Chairman, he will be taking broader responsibility for advancing the division’s strategic direction, deepening client relationships, and supporting cross-border deal execution that aligns with Barclays’ global priorities.
Barclays has highlighted Japan as a core growth market for its global investment banking franchise. Minoura’s appointment will strengthen leadership and deliver greater value to clients as it scales its capabilities in the region.
