HSBC has appointed Chaoni Huang as Managing Director, Head of Sustainable Finance and Transition, Asia. With this appointment, the organisation aims at strengthening its leadership in sustainable finance and advance the bank’s strategic agenda to support climate transition and sustainable growth across the Asian market.
With over two decades of experience in sustainable finance, investment strategy, and advisory, and a strong track record of driving initiatives that integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into large-scale financial solutions. She has served as an Intern/ Project Manager at United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), Senior Analyst at MSCI Inc., Executive Director, Green and Sustainable Solutions, APAC, Corporate and Investment Banking at Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking, Managing Director, Head of Sustainable Capital Markets, Global Markets APAC at BNP Paribas, and Executive Vice President at Hong Kong Green Finance Association (HKGFA).
She holds her academic qualifications from the University of Cambridge and the University of Warwick. During her professional journey, she also held senior leadership roles at reputed organisations. In her new role, she will oversee the development and execution of sustainable finance strategies in the region, deepen client engagement on transition solutions, and strengthen HSBC’s position as a trusted partner for ESG-aligned growth.
This appointment reflects the company’s commitment to driving impact-led finance and supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy across Asia.
