Karby Leggett appointed as Asia Head, Digital Assets at Standard Chartered

Standard Chartered has announced the appointment of Karby Leggett as Asia Head of Digital Assets. This strategic move will strengthen the organisation’s digital assets leadership as financial institutions increasingly explore blockchain-based financial infrastructure, tokenized assets, and digital currencies across global markets.

With over three decades of extensive experience across banking, financial markets, and public-sector advisory. Over the course of his career, he spent over a decade at The Wall Street Journal, where he most recently served as Jerusalem Bureau Chief, and he later joined Goldman Sachs, where he served as a Vice President. Moreover, he spent 15+ years at Standard Chartered, where he most recently served as a Global Head, Official Institutions Group, where he was leading engagement, ideation, and content creation for the official sector and related entities at Standard Chartered Bank.

He holds a strong academic foundation from the University of California, Berkeley, Yonsei University, and The American School in Japan. In his expanded role, he will lead Standard Chartered’s engagement, advocacy, and strategic initiatives around the Bank’s digital asset agenda.

This appointment will strengthen Standard Chartered’s leadership in the evolving digital assets ecosystem as institutional adoption of cryptocurrencies, tokenised assets, stablecoins, and central bank digital currencies accelerates across Asian financial markets.
