PayNet (Payments Network Malaysia) has appointed Praveen Rajan as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The appointment will ensure continuity and stability across Malaysia’s national payments infrastructure.

He holds more than 20 years of experience across the telecommunications, digital, and financial technology sectors, with a strong track record in digital transformation, operational resilience, and stakeholder engagement. He has served as Chief Consumer Business Officer at CelcomDigi, where he led customer-facing strategy and business growth initiatives in a highly competitive, regulated market. He has also served for over 15 years at Digi Telecommunications, most recently as Acting Chief Executive Officer.

He holds his academic qualifications from IMD, London Business School, BI Norwegian Business School, and Nottingham Trent University. In his new role, he will lead PayNet’s efforts to advance Malaysia’s digital payments ecosystem, focusing on enhancing system reliability and security, deepening industry partnerships, and supporting continued financial inclusion and innovation across the region.

The appointment aims at strengthening Malaysia’s national payments infrastructure provider and enabling the country’s wider digital economy through robust, secure, and inclusive payment solutions.
