Samsung appoints Gianmauro Vella as VP & the Head of Global Experience Design

Samsung Electronics has announced the appointment of Gianmauro Vella as Vice President and Head of Global Experience Design. The appointment underscores Samsung’s strategic intent to further elevate experience-led innovation across its global product, service, and brand ecosystem, as design continues to play a central role in shaping differentiated consumer experiences worldwide.

Gianmauro Vella brings more than 25 years of global leadership experience in design, innovation, and brand transformation across multinational organisations. He has served at PepsiCo as Vice President and Head of Design for Greater China, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, South Asia, and Africa. During his tenure, he established multiple regional design hubs and built high-performing, cross-cultural teams that delivered award-winning work aligned with commercial objectives.

Moreover, Vella held senior design leadership roles, where he was instrumental in embedding design thinking within a technology-driven organisation and establishing the company’s Greater China design function. He holds an MBA from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, a Master’s degree in Product Design from Istituto Europeo di Design, and a Bachelor’s degree in Interior and Exhibition Design from the Università degli Studi di Firenze, combining strategic business acumen with a strong creative foundation.

With this appointment, he will be responsible for shaping the company’s global experience design vision, aligning physical and digital touchpoints, and strengthening design governance across regions and categories. His mandate includes fostering customer-centric innovation, enhancing experiential consistency, and embedding design as a strategic growth driver.
